The AuSable Canoe Marathon is always the last full weekend in July. If you want to rent a boat for that Saturday, you must reserve well in advance. Carlisle Canoe Livery is just downstream from the "starting point" so all of the canoeists are still packed close to each other trying to get that vital front position.
